Last year Cancun set a record for welcoming over 30 million visitors. A large number of these tourists came to stay at some of the best all-inclusive resorts in the world.
All-inclusive resorts are wildly popular because they offer travelers the ultimate stress-free vacation package, where everything from food and drinks to entertainment and activities is conveniently bundled into one upfront price. This not only simplifies vacation budgeting, but also allows guests to fully relax and indulge without constantly reaching for their wallets.
Over the last couple of years, I set out on a mission to find the best all-inclusive resorts for families in Cancun and the Riviera Maya. I have visited the area several different times to tour and stayed at countless resorts. To fully experience these resorts, I traveled with my family in tow. Using my personal experience, feedback from clients, and (of course) feedback from my own kids, I have compiled a list of my favorites. Today I’m diving into my favorite all-inclusive resorts, specifically for families with younger children. Check out my other blogs to see what my favorites are for teens and for adults-only travelers!
I love this resort for families, especially for families with younger children. There are things for kids of all ages (and their grown-ups too!). This resort has several large pools, 2 waterslides, and a lazy river. It offers the Explorer’s Club or Core Zone for kids and teens. Drop your kids off in the kid’s club and go have dinner at the adults-only French restaurant for an all-included date night.
The thing I love most about this property are the spacious 2 bedroom suites. These suites are perfect for families who prefer more space or have more than 2 children. The resort is on a calmer beach, perfect for building sandcastles or wading in the gorgeous waters. The Coral Kidz Club has a water play area and a large indoor play space. I found the food to be really good, and the spa is one of the largest in the area.
The Iberostar Paraiso Maya Suites provides access to four Iberostar properties when you book at the Paraiso Maya Suites! The newly remodeled family suites provide connecting rooms, with 2 sitting areas, and 2 bathrooms. There are water slides and a lazy river and a Star Camp kid’s club. The resort has 15 different dining options plus bars, and entertainment. This resort prices in the moderate range, making it a really great option for so many families.
Hyatt Ziva Cancun is a super close second. This property has everything for families and even has the option to stay in the Turquoize section, which is for adults only. This is perfect for groups, as those traveling without children can stay in the Turquoize section and access the exclusive pool and bar to relax. With 17 restaurants, cafes, and bars on the property, there is sure to be something for even the most particular of eaters, and if dining rooms are too stimulating you always have the option of room service!
My favorite, and in my opinion the best, all-inclusive resort for families in the whole Riviera Maya/Cancun area is the Grand Velas Riviera Maya. If you are traveling with an infant, take advantage of the Baby Concierge and have everything in your room on arrival, such as bouncer chairs, high chairs, and cribs. Hire one of the CPR/First Aid certified nannies for young children while you enjoy a romantic dinner, a massage, or one of the adults-only restaurants on the property. Kids over 3 can hang out at the kid’s club or teen’s club. This is the most luxurious all-inclusive resort in the area, with an emphasis placed on food and service. This resort truly sets a high bar for all family vacations to come.
Although those are my top 5, I have also decided to include a runner-up and a more moderately priced property: Barcelo Maya Palace. With large rooms and access to all family Barcelo resorts in the complex, there is endless entertainment for all. The beach at Barcelo Maya Palace is also one of the few in the area where you can snorkel right from the shore!
Whether you’re a beach bum, an adventure enthusiast, a foodie, or simply someone in need of relaxation, these resorts have you covered. From stunning ocean views to world-class dining, endless activities, and impeccable service, Cancun and the Riviera Maya offers an all-inclusive experience like no other.
