What is the top location for destination weddings and events chosen by North American travelers?
It’s the Riviera Maya and Cancun!
Contrary to its old reputation, the Riviera Maya, or the area of Mexico most people call “Cancun,” is not just for spring breakers. There are many resorts that are perfect for families, multi-generational groups, luxury travelers, romance-seekers, and those wanting an adult-only getaway. But where this location really shines is it’s appeal to couples seeking a destination wedding or groups looking for a getaway or special celebration.
Here are a few more reasons why the Riviera Maya is among the top locations for destination weddings and events!
The Cancun airport offers very convenient travel for guests from around the globe. With direct flights from major cities in the United States, Canada, and even Europe, budget airline options, and multiple airlines that service flights, traveling to the Riviera Maya is one of the easiest and usually most cost-effective options.
If you have guests traveling from all around the US, the Caribbean or the west coast of Mexico could be a haul for them. The Cancun is centrally located, offering faster travel times. Guests can get to Cancun in less than 6 hours from most major U.S. cities!
The area has a incredible number of resorts, so you have many options when selecting the perfect spot that meets all your needs for your perfect venue and your guests. All-inclusive resorts provide a more relaxing experience for you and your guests, especially if you are planning a wedding. All-inclusives also make it easier for your guests and for groups to budget and it takes away the stress of making sure everyone can find adequate food options. The Riviera Maya offers much value in its resort packages. Similar weddings or celebrations in major cities in the US can sometimes cost double, or more, than what you’d pay in the Riviera Maya. Overall, the cost is much lower, so you can splurge on details and experiences to make your wedding or event memorable. Excursions, airfare, and airport transportation will also come with a lower price tag for comparable services than they would in the Caribbean, US, and Europe.
There is a huge variety of things to do for people of all ages and with different interests. You can snorkel, dive, reserve a catamaran for an awesome welcome party or event, visit islands like Isla Mujeres or Cozumel, visit cenotes, see Mayan ruins, shop or dine in one of the walkable towns such as Playa del Carmen or Tulum, and more! It’s pretty easy to keep your whole group happy in the Riviera Maya!
In the last 2 years, I have visited the Riviera Maya several times to scout out different all-inclusive resorts for destination weddings and can help you narrow down your choices and plan a stress-free event.
