A honeymoon is a once-in-a-lifetime trip that marks the beginning of your life together. Finding the best destination for a honeymoon can put a lot of pressure on couples when choosing the right location! That’s why I’ve compiled a list of the top honeymoon destinations you should consider when planning this special trip.

Here are some of my most loved, top honeymoon destinations!

French Polynesian Islands

These idyllic islands are synonymous with romance. They offer overwater bungalows, turquoise lagoons, and breathtaking sunsets. Couples can snorkel, enjoy private beach picnics, or simply relax in luxury. I typically find that “island hopping” makes this a more balanced honeymoon. Bora Bora boasts some of the top luxury resorts, while Moorea and Tahiti offer more entertainment and nightlife.

Mexico

There are several areas of Mexico that are perfect for a honeymoon, however Cabo and the Riviera Maya take the lead. Known for its stunning beaches, luxurious resorts, and vibrant nightlife, Cabo offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. On the other coast with its crystal-clear waters, ancient ruins, and lush jungles, Riviera Maya provides a picturesque backdrop for honeymooners. The best part: it’s an easy flight from most major US airports and your budget can go quite far in Mexico! Costa Rica

Costa Rica is one of my favorite honeymoon destinations. My favorite way to plan a honeymoon to Costa Rica is to plan a split stay between the Arenal area and one of the several beach towns. Enjoy a private plunge pool, or head out for some adventure with ziplining, hanging bridges, white water rafting, and waterfall repelling near La Fortuna. Then, move to the coast and enjoy the beautiful beaches. Relax at a resort, take surf lessons, or explore a town and hang out with locals. Costa Rica truly is a have-it-all destination! Bali, Indonesia

Known as the “Island of the Gods,” Bali captivates honeymooners with its lush rice terraces, pristine beaches, and vibrant culture. Couples can enjoy romantic sunset dinners and spa retreats, or explore the island’s temples and waterfalls. I generally recommend a split stay between Ubud and one of the beach areas in the south. Bali is the perfect choice for couples who want a mix of romance and adventure!

Caribbean Islands

From the pristine beaches of Antigua to the lush rainforests of St. Lucia, the Caribbean offers a diverse range of experiences for honeymooners. St. Lucia is one of my top recommendations, with plenty of unique, luxury, adults only resorts. Antigua and several other islands offer boutique resorts with excellent service and a romantic atmosphere. Aruba, Barbados, and Turks and Caicos have little towns to explore and a great food scene, while Punta Cana and Jamaica have dozens of excellent all-inclusive resorts to choose from. Maldives

Renowned for its secluded islands, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant marine life, the Maldives is a paradise for honeymooners. Couples can escape to private overwater villas, enjoy candlelit dinners on the beach, or embark on snorkeling adventures in the vibrant coral reefs. My honeymooners generally pair this with a stop in Dubai for a different experience and to break up the long flight.

Thailand

With its rich culture, stunning landscapes, and delicious cuisine, Thailand is a popular choice for honeymooners seeking adventure and romance. Couples can start with a short stay in Bangkok to explore markets and the city life, then head to Chiang Mai in the north to explore smaller villages, Buddhist temples, and the rich Thai culture. End your trip on one of the many gorgeous islands, such as Phuket and Koh Samui, or hop around the Phi Phi Islands for some of the most beautiful blue water with limestone views.

Greece

From Santorini’s whitewashed buildings to Athens’s ancient ruins, Greece exudes romance at every turn. Couples can wander through charming villages, relax on pristine beaches, or sail the turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea. Couples can island hop and stay at resorts like the 5 star, adults only Stella Island in Crete, or take a cruise for a more simple way to see multiple islands.

Japan

From the bustling streets of Tokyo to the serene temples of Kyoto, Japan offers a unique blend of ancient tradition and modern innovation. Couples can explore historic landmarks, indulge in authentic cuisine, or unwind in tranquil hot springs, making it a truly unforgettable honeymoon destination.

Italy

Venice charms with its romantic gondola rides and delicious food, while Tuscany’s gorgeous countryside and top-notch wineries set the scene for a perfect getaway. The Amalfi Coast wows with its stunning views and cozy coastal towns, and Rome and Florence bring a mix of history and vibrant city life. With so much to offer, from amazing food to beautiful spots and easy travel options, Italy is a fantastic choice for a memorable honeymoon! Explore multiple parts of Italy, take a Mediterranean Cruise, or combine Italy with another country in Europe, and you’ve got yourself a bucket list honeymoon adventure!
