Let’s face it: doing anything with a teenager can feel daunting, especially when traveling. But don’t worry—I am here to help you make incredible memories while traveling as a family with teens.
With its beautiful beaches, various excursions and adventures, and wide selection of resorts, the Riviera Maya in Mexico has everything you need to keep the whole family happy, including your teenagers and young adults! Choosing the perfect resort can be overwhelming, so I have curated a list of the best all-inclusive resorts in the Riviera Maya for teens. Drawing from my experience as both a mother of a teen and a travel agent specializing in Mexico and all-inclusive resorts, I have personally visited and vetted these resorts. Rest assured, they will meet your criteria for an amazing family vacation.
My favorite resort to visit when traveling with teens is Hotel Xcaret Mexico. Staying at Hotel Xcaret Mexico gives you access to 9 unique eco-parks, including ziplining, cenotes, caves, snorkeling, and other adventure, water, and animal encounter activities. Check out the activities here.
Hotel Xcaret Mexico offers more than ten (10) restaurants with some of the most incredible culinary experiences out of any all-inclusive resort I have experienced. This is one of the most unique hotels, and I have yet to find anything like it elsewhere! The best part is that everything is included, so there is no need to spend hundreds on extra excursions to keep your kids happy or pay for transportation whenever you want to leave the resort. Shuttles take you to and from the parks.
*Some of these experiences and restaurants require reservations, so working with a knowledgeable travel advisor (such as myself!) is essential when arranging your trip to Xcaret.
Another resort guaranteed to keep everyone in the family happy, including older kids, is Moon Palace the Grand. It has the largest water park in the area, complete with slides and a FlowRider surf-simulator. It includes a state-of-the-art gaming lounge with the latest video game consoles and a snack bar where teens can grab snacks throughout the day.
Families can also engage in sports and recreational activities like mini-golf, basketball, bowling, and beach volleyball. Adults can unwind at the resort’s many bars and lounges, including a Speakeasy and nightclub. Moon Palace the Grand has too many amenities for me to list here, so check out the full gallery!
If Hotel Xcaret Mexico and Moon Palace the Grand don’t fit into the budget, check out Planet Hollywood Cancun. This property has a waterpark and a Flowrider surf simulator and is located on a beautiful, sargassum-free beach. There is a ton of entertainment for families with older children.
Another resort that will keep kids endlessly entertained is the Hard Rock Riviera Maya. The Riviera Maya property has a Laser Tag and an excellent gaming lounge. Drop your teens in the lounge and visit the Rock Spa!
Are you finding it stressful to even start planning your family vacation? I would be happy to help you. Inquire about a trip here!
And just in case those teens still drive you crazy on your trip, make sure to check out my favorite adults-only, all-inclusive resorts to unwind.
